Full-time nursing at LHSC

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has set a target of 70 per cent full-time nurses to address the nursing shortage around the province and to reduce the heavy reliance on part-time and casual employment. This initiative evolved during the SARS crisis when it was identified how many RNs were working part time or casual shifts and unavailable to hospitals which had patients with SARS.

As reflected on the graph, LHSC well exceeds the 70 per cent target set by the health ministry.
