The Cerner Centre, at London Health Sciences Centre, is a multimedia centre dedicated to using technology that will change the way we function and operate within the healthcare organization. Since the Centre began in 1997, our technology has helped us overcome many obstacles in working more efficiently. Essentially “Making Healthcare Smarter”.

From replacing disparate computer systems that operate in a silo based environment, to a system that is a fully integrated and interactive medical record electronic solution - we work to provide one patient record from 'cradle to grave'. The Centre is our Vision of the Information Technology Future.

We've had many hospital visitors come to our Centre from all over Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Europe and Asia. We are proud to demonstrate our software, equipment and also demonstrating our history from a simple project that began as part of the now, groundbreaking tele-surgery and robotics work.

It is fascinating to see how small the world becomes by our use of videoconferencing technology. To be able to see and communicate with other hospitals and medical staff around the world in less time than it takes to make a telephone call is the immediate benefit of our work. Physicians and clinical staff use this technology to conduct pre and post operative care for patients who have too far to travel into London. As a teaching institution, we use this technology for distance learning initiatives, leadership training, grand rounds and medical education.

We still have a long journey ahead in "Making Healthcare Smarter", and we are taking those steps, one at a time. We welcome you to our Vision of the future within the information technology world.
