FAQ

Q. How do I know if my needs or situation might be met by Cornerstone Counselling?
A. Cornerstone Counselling serves London Middlesex youth and young adults between 16 to 25 years of age who are experiencing mild to moderate problems with mental health and/or addictions issues. Youth who are in crisis or needing a higher intensity level of services will be supported to link with programs that would better meet those needs. You may contact the service directly to speak with a Counsellor to discuss eligibility information or any other details about the program.

Q. How do I get an appointment?
A. Youth can self-refer to Cornerstone Counselling or with their permission, have someone else make the referral. The most direct way to see about an appointment is to call, email or fax in a referral form. Once you’ve connected, the Intake Counsellor will be in contact to discuss your situation and to determine if the service is the right fit for your needs. You can expect to hear back within a few business days after first making contact with our service.

Q. If there is a plan to meet with a Counsellor, how long will I have to wait for an appointment?
A. Our goal is to respond to every request within a few business days upon getting the referral. From there, the Intake Counsellor will let you know the follow up plan. If a scheduled appointment is offered, it will likely be within a two week time frame and any ongoing meetings will be determined by you and your Counsellor.

Q. What is the walk-in service?
A. The walk-in service is available Tuesday and Thursday on a first come, first serve basis from 5pm to 8:30pm with the last appointment taken at 7:45pm. This option is not a crisis or urgent service but rather for youth who feel they might benefit from a single session meeting or who might wish to meet with a Counsellor to explore if ongoing service might be helpful for their situation.
