The Fertility Clinic
Here For You - The Fertility Clinic at the London Health Sciences Centre, is one of very few accredited, academic, hospital based programs in Canada. In our affiliation with Western University, we offer a complete range of fertility assessment and treatment options.
Accreditation with Exemplary Standing. In January 2015, Accreditation Canada, an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets standards for quality and safety in health care and accredits health organizations in Canada and the around the world, awarded The Fertility Clinic the highest level of accreditation attainable.
In our unique approach to individualized care, we provide each patient with a personal primary nurse to guide them through their treatment journey. At The Fertility Clinic, we help create families of all kinds and welcome members of the LGBTQ community.
Through our social workers, we are one of the only fertility clinics in Canada to offer preparatory and supportive counselling onsite, usually at no additional charge. All procedures are conducted at one single location.
With our university partnership over the past 25 years, The Fertility Clinic has become a centre of excellence for research which allows us to provide the most advanced forms of fertility treatment available.
The Fertility Clinic is closely following developments related to the Zika virus. At this point, it seems clear the virus has implications for reproduction and that it can be transmitted through sexual activity and reproductive tissues.
What should I do if I have travelled to a Zika-affected country?
- Women wishing to become pregnant should wait at least 2 months after their return before trying to conceive.
- Men should use condoms for 6 months after their return with a partner who could become pregnant. If your partner is already pregnant, you should use condoms for the duration of the pregnancy.
- Men who have returned from Zika-affected countries should postpone semen donations for 6 months. The deferral period for semen donation is longer since the virus has been detected in semen for longer periods.
- Based on Health Canada’s recommendations, fertility treatments at The Fertility Clinic London Health Sciences Centre will be postponed for 2 months for women who have travelled to Zika affected areas or for 6 months for men who have travelled to these locations.
Your safety is our first priority, your physician would be happy to discuss this further.
