About the President's Award Program

Established in 2006 to honour the community service legacy of LHSC’s first President and CEO, Tony Dagnone, the President’s Award for Outstanding Volunteer Community Service recognizes annually an individual at LHSC whose volunteer achievements have made a difference to the lives of people in our community.

The President’s Award Program was expanded in 2009 by then CEO Cliff Nordal. In addition to the original Community Service award, Nordal introduced one new award category per year over the subsequent three years. For 2009 this included the introduction of the award for Living Our Core Values – How We Work Together and How We Serve Our Patients. In 2010, the program introduced the President’s Award for Leadership and in 2011 an award for Innovation. This year, the program is pleased to introduce the President's Award for Physician Leadership, which was established in memory of a remarkable physician, teacher and leader at LHSC Dr. Murray Girotti.
