Message from the Chair

As Chair, I have the privilege of serving with a very dedicated group of community-based board volunteers. The members of London Health Sciences Centre's Board of Directors bring a diversity of skills and a wealth of experience to their work on behalf of the community and I am grateful for their active involvement, engagement and leadership.

LHSC is committed to providing the best and most timely care for the patients we serve. Our board is also committed to supporting the dedicated and caring staff and physicians who provide extraordinary patient care each and every day and to sustaining our advanced teaching and research capabilities.

This year (2010) will be a year of transition with the retirement of Cliff Nordal as President and Chief Executive Officer. We have been privileged to have had his superb leadership for the last five years. As we select a new Chief Executive Officer to lead us into the future we confirm our goal to be leaders with St. Joseph's Health Care, London in providing the best integrated model of health care in our province.

LHSC is a leader in our community, recognized nationally and internationally for the quality of its care, its excellence in teaching and the innovation of its research. Our board will ensure in the years ahead that we continue to build on this reputation for excellence in patient care, education and research.

Community support, over more than 135 years, has always been at the heart of our hospital. Thanks to the valuable support contributed by generous volunteers and donors, we have achieved great things in London. That strong ongoing commitment enables us to enhance the quality of our patient care and to redevelop our hospital buildings, invest in new equipment and fund research.

It is an honour to represent the community as Chair, LHSC Board of Directors.
