Three programs moving from St. Joseph's
(LONDON, Ontario) - The outpatient oncology program is moving from St. Joseph's Health Care (SJHC) to London Regional Cancer Centre (LRCC) on July 5, 1999. The inpatient oncology and non malignant hematology program are moving from SJHC to London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), Westminster Campus on July 5, 1999. The Southwestern Ontario Hemophilia Program is moving from SJHC to LHSC, Westminster Campus on June 28, 1999.
Although this move has been mandated to London Hospitals by the Health Services Restructuring Commission, moving ahead with it at this time will consolidate the expertise of 22 oncologists and five hematologists in the city. This consolidation involves the relocation of two St. Joseph's physicians, Dr. Ted Vandenberg and Dr. Michael Delorme. Drs. Bill Brien and Marianne Taylor of St. Joseph's will soon be leaving London to pursue other positions.
The total number of staff that will be leaving St. Joseph's is 17 and there will be no job loss as a result of the consolidation.
