4th annual "Race to Save Lives"

(LONDON, Ontario) Right now in Canada more than 4,000 people are waiting for a life saving transplant. However, the number of people dying while waiting for a transplant continues to increase each year because an organ does not become available on time.

The "Race To Save Lives" is held each year to increase awareness in our community about organ donation and the desperate need for more organ donors, as well as highlight the success of transplants and the new, healthy life they give to recipients. The event is also an opportunity to celebrate the world renowned Multi-Organ Transplant Program at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).

Local celebrities, politicians, and members of the London Police and London Fire Departments will replace the horses and team up with six transplant recipients to pull the sulky and driver around the track.

Funds raised during the event will go the Organ Donor Awareness Committee of LHSC to promote organ donor awareness and increase the donor rate in Southwestern Ontario.
