Balloon release to honour donors and increase awareness
LHSC to launch National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week


(LONDON, ON) – Hundreds of balloons will be released on Monday, April 24, at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) in a ceremony to honour donors and help launch National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week (April 23-30) – an annual event that aims to promote the importance of donation and transplantation.

Currently, more than 4,000 Canadians are on the waiting list for an organ transplant. Every three days, one Canadian dies while waiting. The Multi-Organ Transplant Program at LHSC is a leading transplant program that performs approximately 200 transplants annually. The program is committed to education and awareness and is honoured to participate in the National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week.
