The 4th Annual Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario Metabolic Family Workshop
(LONDON, Ontario) – The Medical Genetics Program of Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario at London Health Sciences Centre will be hosting a Metabolic Family Workshop to be held at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn and Conference Centre on Wellington Rd., on Friday, May 11, 2007 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The focus of this year’s workshop will be on Health and Well-Being both for patients and their families and caregivers.
Throughout the day, there will be a number of sessions where families can learn from and participate in workshops addressing the day-to-day issues of living with a child with a rare disorder. Participants will have the opportunity to network with other families and caregivers in a friendly informal environment.
The afternoon will feature a keynote address by Dr. Martin Collis, a motivational speaker from British Columbia, entitled Humour and High Level Wellness.
Saturday, May 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., a Low Protein cooking demonstration will take place. The demonstration features Dietitian Erica Lesperance who will be teaching families new and innovative ways to prepare low protein foods. The cooking demonstration is presented by Cambrooke Foods. This event takes place at Loblaws Wonderland Market, 3040 Wonderland Rd. South.
