(LONDON, Ontario) – Two cardiac surgeons, one from the Montreal Heart Institute and the other from Hopital Sacre Coeur in Montreal, will be visiting London Health Sciences Centre this week in order to learn skills needed to perform robotically assisted cardiac surgery.
They will be observing the work of Dr. Bob Kiaii, Canada’s leading surgeon in the use of a surgical robot for cardiac surgery.
The visiting surgeons, Drs. Michel Pellerin and Hugues Jeanmart, will also spend time in LHSC’s Canadian Surgical Technologies & Advanced Robotics (CSTAR) lab where, under Dr. Kiaii’s mentorship, they will practice their robotic surgical skills. The media are invited to observe the visiting surgeons and interview them, along with Dr. Kiaii, about their educational trip to London.
