Children’s Hospital attracts three new paediatric cardiologists

(LONDON, Ontario) – Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre has attracted three new paediatric cardiologists. Dr. Herschel Rosenberg, Dr. Eva
Welisch and Dr. Ralf Rauch will begin their work at the hospital in late summer.

“Children’s Hospital is very fortunate and pleased to welcome these prominent and experienced paediatric cardiologists. These specialists will help expand the capabilities of Children’s Hospital to better serve the children of Southwestern Ontario,” says Dr. Guido Filler, Chair/Chief, Department of Paediatrics, Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Herschel Rosenberg graduated from the University of Western Ontario and was previously at Children’s Hospital, before moving to the University of Ottawa in 2003. Dr. Rosenberg has a special interest in fetal echocardiography and congenital heart disease.

Dr. Eva Welisch and Dr. Ralf Rauch both hail from Germany. Dr. Rauch is the author of 52 original scientific articles, many in the domain of genetic causes of cardiac anomalies.

Dr. Welisch’s practice has focused mainly in the intensive care unit with a specialization in pacemakers, heart transplantation and postoperative intensive care.

Background Information

Dr. Herschel Rosenberg

Dr. Herschel Rosenberg graduated from the University of Western Ontario, completed his Paediatric Residency at Dalhousie in Halifax and his Paediatric Cardiology Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Rosenberg joined the Department of Paediatrics as a Paediatric Cardiologist in the late 1980's where he provided excellent clinical care to the children of Southwestern Ontario and beyond. He instituted outreach clinics in Windsor and Thunder Bay. He moved to the University of Ottawa in 2003. Dr. Rosenberg has a special interest in fetal echocardiography and congenital heart disease.

Dr. Ralf Rauch

Dr. Rauch completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Munich and Lausanne, Switzerland and his medical studies at Newport, Great Britain and Lugano, Switzerland. His Paediatric Residency was completed at the University of Erlangen, Germany and his Clinical Fellowship for Paediatric Cardiology at the University of Tuebingen, Germany. Dr. Rauch is the author of 52 original scientific articles, many in the domain of genetic causes of cardiac anomalies.

Dr. Eva Welisch

Dr. Eva Welisch completed her medical studies at the Free University of Berlin and her Paediatric Residency in New Zealand at the Otago Medical School and at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She completed her Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiology at the Heart and Diabetes Center of North Rhine Westphalia which is a part of the Medical School of the Ruhr University, Germany. Dr. Welisch’s practice has focused mainly in the intensive care unit with a specialization in pacemakers, heart transplantation and postoperative intensive care.
