LHSC congratulates OHA HealthAchieve award winners

LONDON, Ontario – London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) is proud to announce that two members of our leadership team were honoured with prestigious awards at the recent HealthAchieve conference hosted by the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA).

Dave Crockett, Vice President, Integrated Facilities Management, was the recipient of the Individual Leadership award during the Green Health Care Awards. The Individual Leadership award recognizes a hospital employee who has made an outstanding individual contribution to reducing their hospital’s environmental impact and inspiring the hospital to go green.

Dr. Vanessa Burkoski, Vice President, Professional Practice and Chief Nursing Executive was awarded the Margret Comack National Award of Excellence in Nursing Leadership. This award is designed to acknowledge outstanding leadership of an individual nurse in a senior leadership position, who is employed in a health care organization.

"I am so pleased that the tremendous work done by Dr. Burkoski and Mr. Crockett has been recognized by the OHA,” said LHSC President and CEO Bonnie Adamson. “Within her first year at LHSC, Dr. Burkoski inspired and launched the nursing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) movement, connecting with front-line staff and all levels of leadership within the hospital to achieve scholarly practice. LHSC’s Energy Stewardship program, spearheaded by Mr. Crockett, has been working to reduce energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions since 2002 and has been recognized both provincially and nationally. LHSC is fortunate to have these two exceptional leaders on our team."
