Historic art deco façade to be removed from South Street Hospital

(LONDON, Ontario) – In preparation for the demolition of the main South Street Hospital building, this week contractors will undergo the delicate process of removing the art deco façade from the front entrance. This façade will be retained by London Health Sciences Centre and will be used in a future – as yet unconfirmed - project. Media are welcome to capture this next phase of demolition, however, for your safety we ask that you remain outside the security fencing.

 

          Date:          Monday, July 7 – “Mapping” of the stone work for future

                              reconstruction

 

                             Tuesday, July 8 – Scaffolding erected in front of façade

 

                             Wednesday, July 9 – Removal of stones to begin

 

          Location:   375 South Street, London, Ontario
