(LONDON, Ontario) – The London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) at London Health Sciences Centre is pleased to welcome Dr. Tomislav Svoboda to present to staff, physicians and residents at its Oncology Grand Rounds. Dr. Svoboda has famously refused to travel by car or plane for the last 10 years in an effort to limit his carbon emissions—cars and planes being the most energy intensive modes of transportation. Dr. Svoboda educates others on the dangers of CO2 emissions and their impact on community health and lifestyle.
“While we all strive to be good to the environment and our fellow man, Dr. Svoboda has integrated this philosophy into his everyday existence. In addition, he is an activist and caregiver to those most vulnerable in our society. We hope to learn how he has been able to do this and perhaps integrate some practical lessons into our own lives,” says Dr. Michael Lock, LHSC radiation oncologist.
Dr. Svoboda is a family physician at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, as well as an associate professor and researcher with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.
