Effective Mon, June 1, 2009 both London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care, London will establish designated outdoor smoking areas (DSAs) at each site. This is an important initiative aimed at creating a healthier hospital environment.
We are limiting the areas where smoking is allowed respects the rights of non-smokers not to be exposed to second-hand smoke, while at the same time recognizing the needs of those who smoke. As a health care institution we are committed to reviewing the need for designated smoking areas every few years.
The designated smoking areas (DSAs) will be away from entrances used by the public. If you are a patient or visitor and smoke, please review the maps provided to see where the DSAs are located. Other than the DSA, smoking is not allowed anywhere else on the hospital property – including our entrances or in your car while on our property. Your health care team member will have information and maps for you should you need them during your stay with us.
Beginning Mon, June 1, 2009 smoking will only be allowed in the DSAs - all other outdoor areas on hospital property will be smoke-free.
Thank you!
