A team of paddlers from the radiology department at LHSC’s University Hospital - aptly named “Indecent X-Posure” – have won the second annual Health Care Cup at the Fanshawe Dragon Boat Festival, organized by the Rowbust Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Racing Team.

Held on Saturday, June 15 on Fanshawe Lake, 12 teams from London Health Sciences Centre and four from St. Joseph’s Health Care London competed for the Health Care Cup, awarded to the fastest dragon boat team. This year’s winning team received their award from LHSC President and CEO Bonnie Adamson.
“Congratulations to all of this year’s teams for another successful event,” says Adamson. “Events such as these demonstrate the power of teamwork and collaboration, which we aim to exemplify every day at London Health Sciences Centre. I would also like to add a thank you to the event organizers Linda Kuska and Loraine Warnock for their leadership and tireless commitment to our community.”

Kuska and Warnock, members of the Rowbust Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Racing Team, teamed up with London Health Sciences Foundation so that proceeds from Saturday’s event would support the Gene Goodreau Patient Assistance Fund. The fund is used to cover expenses that are not a part of cancer treatment including things like wigs, prostheses, childcare, respite care, transportation, parking and equipment rentals.
In total, the event raised more than $4,400 for the Gene Goodreau Patient Assistance Fund.
“Rowbust's goal for this festival is to get people outside enjoying Fanshawe Lake, getting some exercise, getting away from work, computers, and just to have some FUN with their family, friends and co-workers!” say Kuska and Warnock.
“Dragon Boating is a sport that absolutely anyone can do and it is such a great team builder. The smiles on everyone's faces and the cheers as they crossed the finish line just said it all!”
Congratulations to all of this year’s health-care paddlers:
