May 29, 2014
The provincial election campaign is now underway and Election Day is Thursday, June 12, 2014.
Patients in hospital who are eligible to vote can register under the special voting rules and vote using an envelope system that protects the secrecy of the vote. At LHSC the special ballot vote is conducted on June 2, 3, and 4. On those days the hospital special ballot coordinators, who are hospital volunteers and Election Canada employees, will visit acute care inpatient units and register the eligible electors who request to vote by special ballot and have not already voted.
Election Day June 12
There are no polling booths or voting by proxy arrangements for patients who are in hospital on Election Day and wish to vote. Those who anticipate being inpatients at LHSC after June 4 to June 12 are encouraged to make alternate voting arrangements with Elections Ontario.
