On Friday, October 17, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care released a letter from Minister Hoskins to health care workers, along with a directive issued on Friday by the Chief Medical Officer. The directive requires enhancements to Ebola preparedness plans that will impact most acute hospitals in Ontario.
While the risk of Ebola Virus Disease remains very low in Canada, we need to ensure that the health and safety of both our patients and staff is protected.
As such we are implementing a new process for screening and will be asking you a few questions as you complete the registration process. In addition, you may see some heath care workers in personal protection equipment.
Please be assured we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our staff, physicians and patients in the unlikely event a suspected case of Ebola does present at LHSC.
More information is available on our Ebola Preparedness website.
