This week LHSC recognized Medical Radiation Technologists (MRT) Week – an annual celebration of the important role that medical radiation technologists (MRTs) play in the health care system. MRTs perform diagnostic imaging examinations and administer radiation therapy treatments.
The theme of this year’s recognition week is Hollywood. In keeping with this theme, staff decorated each of the radiation therapy units at LHSC’s London Regional Cancer Program in true Hollywood fashion with different movies serving as the inspiration. Among these creatively decorated spaces were Alice in Wonderland, Ghostbusters, Spice World, 27 Dresses, Harry Potter, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and A League of Their Own.
To mark the week, different activities were held each day that patients could take part in and on Friday, staff dressed in costume to match the movie theme of their decorated space. Patients took part by voting to determine best decorated unit and best costumes. While the A League of Our Own team won for the best decorated unit and the Spice World team won for best costumes, special congratulations goes out to all participants who helped to make this a memorable MRT Week.
