LHSC employees Weigh In

157 LHSC employees weigh in weekly as part of LHSC’s Fitness Program

October 31, 2012

October is Healthy Workplace Month and for the last six weeks 157 LHSC employees have been participating in the My Fitness…My Weigh program.

“The six week program is comprised of a weekly drop-in session at each hospital site where staff weighed in and have body measurements taken,” says Susan Rosato, fitness program lead, LHSC. “We provide an electronic toolkit that allows staff to set goals and provides the paperwork to record activity and food intake each week for their own personal reflection. “

At each drop-in session staff receives advice and guidance as well as receive answers to diet and fitness questions. My Fitness…My Weigh also encourages staff to participate in other Fitness Program options including group exercise classes, walking programs, and lunch and learns.

Stephanie Gower, clerk, child and adolescent eating disorders program, LHSC participated in the program and “lost inches and pounds” during the six weeks. “With three kids at home I have been able to care for myself by attending three or four fitness classes a week,” continues Gower.

Due to the success of the My Fitness…My Weigh program another 6 week offering started on October 30. “This will be an excellent option for those wishing to prepare for the upcoming Christmas season,” adds Rosato.
