LHSC is pleased to congratulate paediatric critical care nurse Neil McBride on winning this year’s Hospital News Nursing Hero contest.
Neil McBride has worked in the PCCU for more than 20 years as a staff nurse, a Paediatric and Neonatal Transport Team member, a dedicated member of several committees, and a champion of many creative initiatives within LHSC.
Nominated by a long list of his colleagues, Neil was ultimately selected as this year’s winner among a large pool of exceptional nominees from across Canada. To learn more about Neil’s award win, a free copy of the May issue of Hospital News, containing the Annual 2017 Nurses Heroes Supplement, can be picked up on newsstands across the hospital, or you can visit their online story edition.
Living up to the many thoughtful qualities noted within his award win, Neil will be generously donating the cash prize he won as this year’s Nursing Hero to the PCCU. He’s planning to use the money to supply new books for the PCCU Memory Box Program initiative – a program that provides a hand-made memory box and end of life memories for families – and to do Tim Hortons runs for his fellow nurses when they aren’t able to leave the floor for breaks.
