Iconic Canadian Broadcaster Ron MacLean accepted legendary figure skater Kurt Browning’s Ice Bucket Challenge in what is perhaps one of the most Canadian versions of the challenge yet.
MacLean wore operating room scrubs from London Health Sciences Centre while challenging Dr. Michael Strong, Dean, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University. Eric Lindros was also challenged in recognition of his efforts with See the Line as was MacLean’s Coach’s Corner co-host Don Cherry.
In addition to the LHSC scrubs, MacLean added a lucky loonie to the ice and mixed the ice water with a hockey stick. MacLean was recently in London to host the See the Line gala in aid of concussion research, care and awareness.
The challenge was created by the American ALS Association (ALSA), but people can also donate directly to LHSC’s MND clinic though London Health Sciences Foundation to support research at University Hospital or to ALS Canada.
