As staff and patients arrived at Victoria Hospital after digging out from an estimated 15 centimeters of snow, London Health Sciences Centre’s Injury Prevention Team greeted them with ice scrapers and winter driving safety tips.
The initiative was part of the London Middlesex Road Safety Committee's winter driving safety campaign. The London Middlesex Road Safety Committee includes the Middlesex-London Health Unit, LHSC’s Trauma Program, Ministry of Transportation, City of London, County of Middlesex, London Police Services, OPP, Fanshawe College, and Western University’s Police Services. All work collaboratively to decrease traffic related fatalities and injuries in London and Middlesex.
“It is obvious, but visibility is extremely important to safe driving during winter,” says Jane Harrington, Injury Prevention Specialist, LHSC. She also offered the following safe driving tips for winter:
