Walter, 95, and Ardythe, 92, Westbrook celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary among family, friends and the staff who care for Walter in London Health Sciences Centre’s sub-acute medicine unit (SAMU) at Victoria Hospital.
SAMU staff secured a conference room for the celebration and left a note on the door reserving the room for an anniversary party with well wishes. Ardythe brought a Swiss Chalet dinner to eat with her husband, and they spent some time in the evening celebrating their anniversary with 20 of their closest family and friends.
The couple was asked to share the secret to a long and successful marriage and while contemplating an answer their son-law quipped, “it has something to do with one not hearing well and the other not listening.”
Walter and Ardythe would have preferred to celebrate their anniversary at home, but, regardless, they are thankful that they can celebrate together.
Congratulations to Walter and Ardythe Westbrook!
