April 29, 2016
On May 1, 2016 LHSC and St. Joseph’s are celebrating the sixth annual Provincial Doctor's Day.
Every day, more than 320,000 patients across the province are treated and cared for by one of Ontario’s 28,000 physicians. Whether it's in a hospital, a clinic, a long-term care facility, a research lab or at a patient's home, Ontario's doctors are working hard to make sure patients get the care they need.
May 1st was recognized by the provincial government in 2011 as the official day of appreciation for Ontario’s medical profession. The date was chosen to mark the birthday of one of Canada’s first female physicians, Dr. Emily Stowe.
All Ontarians can recognize doctors who have made a difference in their lives via social media by tweeting using the hashtags #DocsRock2016 or #PatientsFirst.
