London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) recently announced its Quality Improvement Indicators for the new fiscal year. The annual development and reporting on a quality plan is part of LHSC’s legislative accountabilities under Ontario’s Excellent Care for All Act. Three indicators remain the same as last year, with two new ones for the 2018/19 cycle. Incidents of Workplace Violence is new this year as the first Mandatory indicator to be chosen by Health Quality Ontario.
LHSC remains committed to providing safe, high quality care, and continues to strive in establishing innovative partnerships to build a sustainable health-care system within our region. In 2017/18, progress was made towards our objective of standardizing our approach to quality, safety, and consistency of care.
For 2018/19, LHSC has made patient engagement a top priority. In the development of the new Quality Improvement Plan, Patient and Family Advisory Councils helped build a survey for us to better understand what is most important to our patients, families and communities. The results showed that patients and families want a smooth transition from hospital to home, and they do not want a long wait for emergency care. With this feedback, as well as our patient relations feedback, documented critical incidents, and our staff and physician survey results, the following indicators have been selected:May 7, 2018
