The Hips and Knees Quality, Utilization and Access Project was sponsored by the South West LHIN to address current wait time issues for Total Joint Replacement (TJR) procedures. ISAN provided staff support to the first phase of this integration initiative. The initiative took a systems level approach to the development of innovative strategies to reduce wait times and increase system capacity while ensuring consistent and seamless care for patients in the South West LHIN.
Phase One of this project is now complete and both a Current State and a Future State report have been tabled with the South West LHIN.
Follow-up planning is being undertaken by the South West LHIN through one of its Priority Action Teams. These are teams the LHIN has established to follow-up on the strategic priorities identified in its 2006 Integrated Health Services Plan.
