South Western Maternal Newborn Child & Youth Network
Dr. Charlotte Moore, Provincial Lead, Maternal Child and Youth Health Strategy, has commented on the importance of strong regional networks. The recently redeveloped Provincial Council for Children’s Health (PCCH) into the Provincial Council for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Youth Health Care, reporting to Dr. Moore, will be most influential in reshaping maternal, newborn, child and youth care in the province of Ontario.
As noted in a recent release, PCCH “commits to working horizontally and in collaborative partnerships with stakeholders in order to provide expert advice and support to the provincial system of maternal, newborn, child and youth health care services.
Over the past two years, ISAN has been involved in developing the relationships with and commitment from hospitals in Southwestern Ontario that provide perinatal and paediatric services. Additionally, the South West CCAC and the Middlesex London Health Unit were also engaged to support a stable infrastructure for the Maternal Newborn Child and Youth Network. This Network brings together the former Southwestern Ontario Perinatal Partnership (SWOPP), the Perinatal Outreach Program and the Southwestern Regional Paediatric Network (RPN).
