The Western Ontario Regional Paediatric Network

Paediatric Stakeholders from across Southwestern Ontario have come together to reinvigorate the Western Ontario Regional Paediatric Network. The Network is intended to:

  • improve the continuity of care between organizations providing paediatric health care services;
  • ensure care is provided as close to home as possible for children and their families;
  • develop interdependent linkages across providers to accommodate changing circumstances and needs;
  • improve consistency in standards of care; and
  • enhance education capacity for all child health professionals across the region.

The Regional Paediatric Network will provide a foundation for an ongoing relationship between paediatric stakeholders located within the Erie St. Clair and Southwest Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs).

Participants in the Regional Paediatric Network include paediatric representatives from hospitals, children’s treatment centres, and Community Care Access Centres (CCACs) from across the southwest region, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Child and Parent Resource Institute, the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), the Southwest LHIN and CritiCall. The Network also includes Paediatricians from Windsor, Chatham, London, Stratford and Owen Sound.

To help guide the development of the Network, a working group has been established.  The membership of the working group includes:

  • Dr. Lenna Morgan, Chief of Paediatrics, Windsor Regional Hospital
  • Dr. Vic Sauro, Chief of Paediatrics, Grey Bruce Health Services
  • Dr. Shamim Tejpar, Chief of Paediatrics, Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance
  • Dr. Gary Tithecott, Chief of Paediatrics, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance

The next meeting of the Regional Paediatric Network Stakeholders will take place onApril 13, 2007.  If you would like further information, please contact David Heaton at ISAN.
