Dr. Kathleen Ferguson is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. She has been a faculty member at Schulich since 1994. She is co-director of the Sleep Apnea Dental Clinic at the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and Associate Director of the Sleep Laboratory at LHSC. She is a Respirologist whose practice focuses on Sleep Disordered Breathing.
Her research interests are in the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). She has studied surgical, dental and CPAP therapy for OSA. She has lectured extensively and published many manuscripts including original scientific research and numerous review articles. She has received funding for her research from Industry, the Ontario Thoracic Society, the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) and the National Institute of Health (US).
She has been working in the field of oral appliance treatment of OSA for many years. She has lectured extensively and published manuscripts about oral appliance therapy. In 2004 she received the Pierre Robin Academic Award from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and in 2007 they awarded her Honorary Membership.
