Community Advisory Council

Membership Application

Have you ever wanted to be part of the health-care discussion in the community where you live?

The purpose of LHSC’s Community Advisory Council (CAC) is to improve patient care experiences at LHSC. The volunteer council serves in an advisory capacity, making recommendations on matters that impact the experience of patients and families at LHSC. Not only will council members provide valuable input, they will also become well informed about LHSC so they can be positive representatives of the hospital in the community.

Who is on the CAC?

The CAC brings together individuals with a variety of experiences with LHSC including volunteer community members, patients and family members, as well as LHSC staff and physicians. The membership reflects a diversity in relation to gender, age, ethnicity, work/career backgrounds, and personal experiences and includes a minimum of 10 general (non-LHSC) members.

What kind of commitment is required of members?

The term for general members is two years, renewable for a maximum of 3 terms (6 years). A member may be asked to lead or participate in sub-committees for the CAC or may be called upon from time to time to participate on CAC-related projects. The CAC meets every other month for a 2-hour meeting at LHSC's Victoria Hospital.

How do I apply?

This is a volunteer position. Candidates must complete an application form to apply for general membership on the CAC. The applications will be reviewed and interviews may be required.
