About Nursing At LHSC

There are so many great reasons why a graduating or an experienced nurse would want to join London Health Sciences Centre, that we found it difficult to shortlist them. However, it's an important decision and yours to make, so we'll let you be the judge. Just as you had your own reasons for becoming a nurse, only you can decide what would motivate you to join LHSC.

Here, then, are only a few of the many great reasons for joining LHSC. We know that once you get to know us better, you'll want to add your own reasons to the list!

Multiple Professional Growth Opportunities

LHSC is a multi-hospital teaching, research and health-care facility, with many specialty areas that offer unlimited career choices within nursing. As a result, there are plenty of opportunities for nursing staff to try something new without leaving "home".

A Shared Leadership Model

Our Nursing Professional Practice Council (NPPC) provides nurses with a forum for advancing professional practice issues organization-wide. This council also helps to further develop leadership qualities in nursing staff. Along with its focus on enhancing patient- and family-centred care through evidence-based practice, NPPC works to improve the quality of work life for nurses.

A Leading-Edge Environment

LHSC is in the forefront of research in robotic-assisted surgery, 3D ultrasound and surgical visual systems. We are also the leading tertiary care and trauma centre for Southwestern Ontario.

International Acclaim

Many of our staff and programs, as well as Children's Hospital of Western Ontario, located at LHSC, are recognized internationally for the significant contributions they have made towards the advancement of nursing care and medicine around the world.

Flexible Scheduling

Scheduling is flexible, and some nurses cross-train in two areas for greater career flexibility. The majority of our nurses are full-time, which furthers our commitment to continuity of care.

Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre

Committed to family-centred care, the Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre, a hospital within a hospital, is a tertiary care facility for children from birth through age 17. Along with serving as a regional referral centre providing specialized paediatric services in Southwestern Ontario, Children's Hospital supports other Ontario regions, especially Northwestern Ontario. With a vision to be a vital contributor to child health care, education and research, Children's Hospital offers nurses the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and their families.

Together we care, we learn, we discover.
