Vision: A healthy life journey in a safe, caring community!
The goal of the Thames Valley Hospital Planning Partnership (TVHPP) is to coordinate and improve the delivery of hospital-based services in order to contribute positively to the health status of the population served by the Partnership members.
Geographically located in Southwestern Ontario it includes the counties of Oxford, Elgin, Middlesex and the City of London.
In response to the Northern and Rural Health Care Framework of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) in 1997 and the Health Services Restructuring Commission (HSRC), this network of Thames Valley hospitals was formed in 1999 and included the eight hospitals in Thames Valley Region¹. The TVHPP was established to address district level issues related to the delivery of hospital-based services and to function in an advisory capacity to each hospital’s governing Board. As such, the strategic planning completed by the Partnership has guided the activities of local hospitals.
The two academic health sciences centre's in the region, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care, London are active members of the Partnership. The members of the Partnership consist of three representatives; namely the Chair of the Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and the Chief of Staff from each hospital.
The TVHPP meets on a regular basis to address issues of shared interest and to undertake joint projects. The TVHPP has recently completed the planning and implementation of a shared Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) across all organizations and is currently implementing a shared Electronic Patient Record (EPR). The EPR system includes the South Huron Hospital (in Exeter) and the Listowel and Wingham hospitals Alliance, as well as the Thames Valley hospitals.
Mission:
To provide optimum accessibility to
the highest possible quality of hospital-based services
in the most cost-effective manner
for the population in all communities served by the member hospitals.

Each hospital is a 50 bed acute care hospital located in south west Ontario and separated by a distance of 37 kilometres. The hospitals share a common management structure with one Chief Executive Officer. The Alliance agreement is based on a common set of principles and a commitment to partnership that guides all planning processes. A common mission, vision and values have been recently revised and approved (January 2007).
