Our Service

Children’s Hospital recognizes and appreciates the stresses and challenges experienced by patients and families. To ensure families have direct input and influence about how we can best support families during their time at Children’s Hospital, the Family Advisory Council was established. This council brings parents together with hospital leaders to enable family members to have direct input and influence on policies, programs, and practices that impact the care and services children and families receive.

Family members can play a variety of roles such as members on task forces, advocates, speakers at conferences and staff orientations, participation in quality improvement initiatives and parent-parent support opportunities.

Our Team

Our team consists of two key groups, Parental and Staff. Please follow the links to meet the Family Advisory Committee members.

What to expect if you become a FAC member

The FAC meets every six weeks at the Children’s Health Foundation. As an FAC member you will be expected to share your experiences, suggestions and ideas with the council. You will work with other parents and staff to think through challenging issues and help to develop new programs and processes that improve the care at Children’s Hospital. It is expected that you will respond to requests via email and attend meetings regularly.

For more information about the Family Advisory Council email fac@lhsc.on.ca or contact Lisa Hawthornthwaite directly at her extension.
