CounsellingThe Fertility Clinic offers onsite counselling services of both a psychologist and a social worker to assist couples in dealing with the various stresses that can arise as a result of fertility problems or as a result of fertility treatment. Fertility problems can have an impact on emotions, on social interactions with family and friends and can affect relationships. Participation in treatment using reproductive technologies can sometimes raise questions and concerns. When procedures involve the use of donated sperm or eggs from a third party, participants face some unique challenges and questions to consider. Specific goals might include determining your readiness to proceed with treatment, understanding the implications of the proposed treatment for yourselves as well as potential child, overcoming concerns about treatment procedures, or coping with treatment disappointments.
All patients at The Fertility Clinic are offered specialized counselling in preparation for Intrauterine Insemination or in preparation for In Vitro Fertilization to review any concerns and to identify strategies and solutions to minimize the stress of treatment. Specialized services also include counselling in preparation for family building through the use of Sperm Donation, or Egg Donation or through Surrogacy with a gestational carrier. All counselling is individualized and provided to individuals or couples at no additional cost. |
