Visiting a Patient

To protect the health of our patients, please do not visit if you feel unwell, have a cold or other respiratory infection

Handwashing is the single most important procedure in a hospital for preventing and controlling the spread of infection. Please wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the hospital.

Visiting Inpatients

  • For Adult Inpatient Mental Health program - the optimal visiting times are between 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday - Friday. This enables our patients to have maximum involvement with the intra-disciplinary team, group programs and individual sessions.
  • Optimal Weekend visiting hours are from 12:00 pm (noon) to 8:00 pm.
  • There will be flexibility in allowing visiting at other times depending on patient need and environmental safety.
  • We in the Adult Inpatient Mental Health program want to achieve a balance between our patients need for the presence of family and friends and the need for creating and maintaining a safe environment for both patients and staff members.

Gifts

Family members are welcome to bring gifts for you. When they do, please make sure that the staff is aware, so they can assure the gifts are safe for both you and others on the unit. (For example, glass items are generally not permissible. Electrical appliances need to be checked for proper wiring.)

Please be reminded that there is the possibility of items disappearing. Therefore, gifts of significant monetary or sentimental value are best taken home.

Cafeteria

Patients/clients and visitors are welcome to use the hospital cafeteria. Check the cafeteria doors for operating hours.
