Treatment: Hormonal Therapy and Other Drug Treatments

For men at higher risk of cancer spread outside the prostate or for men whose cancer has returned despite prior treatments, drug treatments may be necessary. Typically testosterone suppressing drugs are used as the first line of therapy with other drugs added depending on the situation.

London is a recognized leader in clinical research into optimal drug therapies for prostate cancer. Areas of research include:

• Using bone strengthening agents to reduce potential side effects of testosterone suppressing drugs and cancer effects on bone;
• Using newer chemotherapy and molecular targeted agents in the treatment of prostate cancer.
