Training
London Health Sciences Centre is an academic teaching hospital, committed to providing students with a place they can learn and discover knowledge and skills to take them forward in their careers as health care professionals.
Medical training:
London Health Sciences Centre, in partnership with The University of Western Ontario, is a training site for medical students, residents and fellows. There are 650 residents who train and work in London's hospitals to become a fully licensed physician.
Residents and fellows deliver front line medical care in intensive care units, emergency departments, surgical and medical wards, outpatient clinics, family doctors' offices and other hospital facilities. Residents assess patients, order tests, perform procedures, write prescriptions and make treatment decisions. They also help train future doctors by teaching medical students and other residents.
Training nurses and others students:
LHSC has education agreements with over 55 schools, hospitals and community agencies from across Ontario, Canada and internationally. Approximately 1400 Nursing, Allied Health and other students ranging from secondary school to university graduate level programs receive training at LHSC every year.
