Funding is provided by the Lawson Health Research Institute, the London Regional Cancer Program, the University of Western Ontario, the Child Health Research Institute, and the Robarts Research Institute.

Located in the Victoria Research Laboratories Vivarium, London Regional Cancer Program at the London Health Sciences Centre, the facility is open to all members of the London research communities, and others upon request. The following services are currently offered to investigators:

Transgenic Service

• Purification of DNA fragments, supplied by clients, for microinjection
• Generation of founder transgenic mice

 

Gene Targeting Service

• Complete gene targeting experiment, including electroporation of a gene targeted vector into a desired ES cell line, followed by drug selection, freezing of ES cell lines and screening by PCR or Southern Blotting
• Maintenance of an investigators ES cell line in culture for electroporation, morula aggregation or blastocyst microinjection
• Grow and supply investigators with mouse ES Cells or primary fibroblast feeder cells for their own gene targeting experiments
• Blastocyst microinjection and transfer to recipient female mice
• Morula aggregation and transfer to recipient female mice
• CRE-mediated excision

Additional Services

• Embryo cryopreservation
• Rederivation by embryo transfer
