Funding is provided by the Lawson Health Research Institute, the Schulich School of Medicine, and Western University.

Located in the Victoria Research Laboratories Vivarium, at the Lawson Health Research Institute and the London Health Sciences Centre, the facility is open to all members of the London research communities, and others upon request. The following services are currently offered to investigators:


  • Investigator provided embryos and sperm can be cryopreserved and stored for later use.
  • Fresh or cryopreserved sperm and embryos can be used for rederivation of pathogen free genetic stocks of mice for investigators.


  • Standard pronuclear injection of investigator provided transgenes.
  • Blastocyst injection of genetically modified ES cells to create chimeric animals.
  • Genetic manipulation of ES cells by homologous recombination or CRISPR mediated genome engineering in zygotes is considered on a case by case basis.


  • We provide mice to investigators and possess cryopreserved stocks of commonly used CRE and FRT mouse lines on request.
