Title: A Randomized Phase III Study of Sublobar Resection (+ Brachytherapy) versus Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy in High Risk Patients with Stage 1 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) |
![]() |
|
| Patients are eligible for this study if they have lung cancer, or a spot on their lung which the doctor feels is suspicious for lung cancer. Typically, surgery is done by removing a lobe of the lung. However, due to certain risks, some patients would require a surgery removing a smaller portion of the lung (a sublobar resection). | ||
| The purpose of this study is to compare the results of sublobar resection (removal of a small portion of a lung) with brachytherapy (radioactive seeds placed in the lung) to stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), which is radiation given by a specialized x-ray machine that targets the lung cancer. | ||
