Background
More than a million blood products are transfused each year in
Ontario with the majority of those blood products being administered
by registered nurses (RN’s). Bloody-Easy for Nurses is
an electronic learning tool developed by a Transfusion Safety
Nurse with input from RN’s, Transfusion Safety Officers
and Transfusion Personnel across Ontario. The content reflects
current best practices.
National standards (CSA Z902-04) for transfusion require that
personnel training procedures include mechanisms to ensure ongoing
training of all staff involved in the administration of blood and
blood components.
If you are a nurse you may choose to access the two module e-learning
program developed specifically for healthcare professionals administering
blood products - Bloody Easy for Nurses. These modules will take
approximately 90 minutes to complete and can be accessed via
