SOLUTIONS FOR SPECIMEN COLLECTION

Sterile Hank’s Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS)

Blood media for collection of baby blood, HBSS for CVS and RPMI for Lymph Nodes/Tumors is available by calling the Cytogenetics Laboratory.


LABORATORY HOURS

The Cytogenetics Laboratory is staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. We are located at LHSC, Victoria Hospital, 800 Commissioners Road, East, Rm B10-114, London, Ontario N6A 4G5. We request that our cytogenetics requisitions (available through our lab or web site) be filled out completely with patient's name, PIN #, address, OHIN #, originating location, Dr.'s full name and address, test requested, specimen type and pertinent clinical information.

*The collection of Amniotic Fluid and CVS must be prearranged with the laboratory, please call ahead. These specimens require processing the same day as collection.

Bone Marrow, Amniotic Fluid, CVS, Baby Blood and Products of Conception must be sent immediately. All other specimens may be stored at 4ºC and sent promptly the next day at room temperature (15 to 25 ºC), if unable to send the same day as collection.

NOTE: DO NOT freeze, separate blood, or place specimen directly on an ice pack.
