The Hemostasis Thrombosis Laboratory is located at the Victoria
Hospital Site of London Health Sciences Centre and provides a wide range
of testing for both clinical and research groups. The principal
areas of testing are related to bleeding tendency (Hemophilia or
von Willebrands Disease) and in patients with hypercoagulable
states (Hereditary deficiencies of Protein C or S and Lupus Anticoagulant)
In addition the laboratory provides rapid testing for the diagnosis
of heparin induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) and monitoring of heparin
therapy by anti Xa assay.
The Investigational Hematology Laboratory provides testing for Hemoglobinopathy/Thalassemia
as well as testing for hemolytic disorders such as Hereditary Spherocytosis
and Hereditary G-6PD Deficiency.. Malaria investigation, including
state of the art screening tools for rapid identification of Plasmodium
falciparum is also provided. The laboratory prepares and examines
bone marrow aspirates for the diagnosis of leukemia, lymphoma and
infiltrative disease.
