Molybdenum (Mo)
Atomic Number: 42
Atomic Symbol: Mo
Atomic Weight: 95.94
Electron Configuration: [Kr]5s14d5

Molybdenum is essential for plants and is a cofactor for the enzyme xynthine and aldehyde oxidases. Molybdenum requirements are very low, as it is easily absorbed and excreted, however, its activity is closely related to that of copper, and a well established relationship exists between the two elements. High molybdenum intake can result in a copper deficiency known as molybdenosis, while low molybdenum intake can result in in copper toxicity. There is also a molybdenum-sulfur relationship, although it is not as significant as that between molybdenum and copper.
