The Tissue & Archives
Committee was created to provide comprehensive tissue related
services and materials for investigators while fulfilling
the Department of Pathology’s mandate to protect the
tissue archive in compliance with CAP Guidelines and Federal
and Provincial Legislation.
Human tissue, collected for
diagnostic purposes, is a very valuable resource for clinical
and translational research. However, this resource
is limited in amount and though it initially belongs to
the patient from whom it was taken, once collected and processed
it is
mandated by legislation that it be safe-guarded for diagnostic
usage which supercedes all other uses.
Despite this, the committee
is dedicated to facilitating and conducting research for
the advancement of knowledge and improvement of health for
all.
Applications will be processed within 4-6 weeks.
