Some Key Facts About Us: |
Our
collaborative team of Physicians, Scientists, Pathologists,
Medical Laboratory Technologists, Laboratory Assistants,
and Administrative and Support Staff work in 35 laboratory
areas, located in 15 different locations across 4 separate
campuses. LLSG offers more than 2,700 different laboratory
tests and performs 6.9 million tests per year.

Professional Growth Opportunities:
|
By operating in a multi-site teaching, research and health-care environment, a wide range of educational opportunities are available to Technical staff. Individual laboratory disciplines offer regular rounds and inservice activities. LLSG also presents an Academic Symposium Series of 5 to 10 full or half-day seminar days per year, covering all disciplines. Continuing education funds and bursaries are also available for career development.

| Employment Status: |
LLSG Technical staff are employees of LHSC.
|

|
Full-time -
Technical staff who work a regular schedule averaging between
30 and 37.5 hrs/wk
Casual - Technical staff who work on an intermittent basis according to the needs of the hospital.

Salaries: |
Remuneration for LLSG Technical staff is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and LHSC, and is commensurate with experience. The salary ranges vary with the position. Salary placement is based on one step for every year of recent, related full-time experience. Technical staff who are required to work shifts and weekends receive shift or weekend premiums. An educational bonus is available to Medical Laboratory Technologists who also have a BSc degree. |

Vacation and Holidays: |
Vacation entitlement is based on continuous length of service, with full-time Technical staff receiving paid vacation, and casual Technical staff receiving the equivalent vacation pay as a percentage of their pay.
LHSC also recognizes 12 paid holidays per year.

The Benefits Program is provided to all full-time Technical staff. Casual Technical staff receive an additional percentage of their pay in lieu of benefits. For those participating in the Benefit Program, group rates for additional voluntary life insurance (for self and family members) are available, as well as the convenience of payroll deductions for group RRSPs.
Recognizing the various needs of our staff, we also provide progressive programs designed to enhance the employment experience at LHSC, such as on-site child-care services, counseling services, fitness programs, recreational and social activities, and an employee discount program with participating businesses. |
