Incorrect information related to Sleep apnea surgery

London Free Press · 2001/12/20

It's back from the brink - at least temporarily - for seven of 18 London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) programs.......But if seven programs bought time, 11 others such as a travel clinic, ultraviolet therapy and treatment of the most severe cases of breathing cessation during sleep will be phased out. (Geoff) Davies (Board Chair) stressed all programs will continue for the time being.

SURGICAL treatment of mild cases of sleep apnea is the scope out. Mild is defined as an index of less than 20. This affects approximately 31 patients of the 2,700 we treat. Surgical treatment will still be offered to those with an index higher than 20.

The London Free Press contacted the hospital the day the original story appeared recognizing the error. A correction was drafted by the Free Press.
