New Medical Director of the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic announced

(LONDON, Ontario) - Phil Bowman, chair of the board of directors of the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic is pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Litchfield has accepted the position of medical director for the Clinic, effective June 25, 2007.

“We are truly pleased to have Dr. Litchfield in the position of medical director, “ said Phil Bowman. “His experience and background in the field of sport medicine is a boon to our patients as well as to the staff and physicians of the Clinic”.

Dr. Robert Litchfield is an orthopaedic surgeon with research and clinical interests is in the area of shoulder and knee reconstructive surgery. He is involved in several clinical trials funded through the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), and is principal investigator or co-investigator in an additional thirteen randomized clinical trials. He was a founding member of the research group JOINTS Canada (jointscanada.ca), whose focus is multicentered RCT’s involving common conditions of the shoulder. He is extensively involved in surgical education through his role as the Director of Education for the Canadian Surgical Technologies and Advanced Robotics (CSTAR).

Dr. Litchfield is past president of the medical staff organization for the London Health Sciences Centre and has served on the Board of Directors for the hospital. He holds memberships in the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Herodicus Society and the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine. An avid skier and golfer, Dr. Litchfield is a member of the Physician’s Group for the Canadian National Ski Team. Bob is married to Mandy and they have three children.

Dr. Robert Litchfield has been the Interim Medical Director at the Clinic since April when Dr. Peter Fowler, co-founder of the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic, announced his resignation.
