London Health Sciences Centre Launches First International SPECT/CT Education Series

(LONDON, Ontario) -London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) has a rich history of excellence and innovation in patient care and teaching. In keeping with this reputation, LHSC is pleased to announce that, in partnership with GE Healthcare, it will host the first international Molecular Imaging Master Series Educational Program, entitled, “Introduction to Hybrid Imaging: Focus on SPECT/CT” on Friday, October 20th and Saturday, October 21st at LHSC’s CSTAR (Canadian Surgical Technologies & Advanced Robotics) facility at University Hospital. LHSC acquired a GE SPECT/CT, the latest in imaging technology, in December 2005.

The Molecular Imaging Master Series trains physicians on the clinical benefits of SPECT/CT and how it can influence patient management. The course balances class work and lecture time with hands-on image interpretation time. Small class sizes ensure active participation and the opportunity to ask questions of the experts.

This 2-day comprehensive course covers all aspects of SPECT/CT, including practical aspects of patient preparation, study acquisition and post processing with hands-on workstation experience.

Program instructors will be Dr. William F. Pavlosky, MD, FRCP(C), FACR, Course Director, SPECT/CT Master Series, Associate Professor, Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, Division of Nuclear Medicine, LHSC, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Western Ontario (Schulich Medicine), and Dr. Jean Luc Urbain, MD, PhD, FRCP, Professor of Nuclear Medicine, Chief and Chair of Nuclear Medicine, LHSC, Schulich Medicine.

Media are invited to meet the program instructors between 12:00 Noon and 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20th or Saturday, October 21st. They will answer questions about this latest in diagnostic technology and demonstrate its advantages for physicians and patients.
